‘Philosophy for Children’ (P4C) aims not only to strengthen good reasoning, inquiry and concept- formation but to nurture an intellectual and social virtue. This term P4C has been delivered by teachers to pupils online, through live zoom lessons. Teachers have created lessons centered around school virtues and values. P4C lessons have enabled the children to develop a better understanding and appreciation of the world and each other.
Through zoom the children have been able to explore stimulus’, listen carefully, speak to each other, build on ideas and ask big idea questions. In P4C the children have learnt how to be better at dialogue, including listening, responding and reasoning. They have also developed understanding, appreciation and habits of reflection, and other virtues, which we encourage to be practiced in all school lessons – and in everyday life.
